Frequently Asked Questions

Is physical therapy right for me?

Anyone who has pain, an injury, or a physical condition that affects their ability to move or perform daily activities can benefit from physical therapy. For specific questions, call and speak with our expert therapists.

What type of conditions do you treat?

We treat a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to musculoskeletal injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, sports injuries, chronic pain, postural issues, mobility limitations, neurological conditions, and more.

What can I expect for my first visit?

All paperwork is completed online prior to your first visit. Your 60 minute assessment will include your physical therapist taking a comprehensive history, followed by a physical examination of your movement patterns, area of complaint and any related sites. Please wear clothing that allows for movement and easy access to the area(s) of concern. This is followed by a detailed explanation of your injury/pain and a plan for how we’re work towards your goals. Treatment is includes with a combination of hands-on manual therapy and corrective exercises to address your specific impairments.

Will I see the same physical therapist each time?

Yes! Our mission  is to keep you healthy and active for a lifetime. To do that, we believe consistency and continuity is the key. We prioritize that by scheduling you with the same therapist each session. (Very occasionally if there are scheduling conflicts, we’ll give you the option to see another PT, but this is rare and always the patient’s choice.)

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you will need depends on your condition and treatment plan. Our physical therapists will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that will address your specific needs and goals.

Do you take my insurance?

In short - no. We are an out-of-network provider. This means that we do not accept insurance as it limits the quality of care we can provide. The traditional insurance model leads to short visits, double booking, and being passed around to assistants and aides. At Opus, we provide 1-on-1, 60 minute treatments with your physical therapist. This means a faster recovery, consistency in progress, saving you money and time in the long run. Patients can submit claims directly to their insurance and may be eligible for reimbursement based on individual plans. Superbills can also be provided upon request.

What are your rates?

Initial evaluation and follow-ups are $225. We offer a 6 visit ($1275 | $75 savings) and 10 visit ($2050 | $200 savings) plans.

Where are you located?

We are located at 5427 Telegraph Ave W1, Oakland, CA 94609 inside Temescal Fitness & Movement. It’s a short drive from Emeryville, Berkeley, Montclair, Richmond, and Alameda. If you’re coming from Telegraph Ave, drive all of the way to the back of the plaza, towards the freeway, and look for a green sign with “Temescal Fitness & Movement”. Follow the road left and look for unit W1 on your left. There should be large sign for Temescal Fitness & Movement. Come inside and ask for Ki.

Is there parking?

Yes - there is parking directly outside of our building. Please park along the fence or wall, away from the main building.

Do I need a referral?

In California, direct access allows you to see a physical therapist without a doctor’s referral. You can see a physical therapist for up to 45 days or 12 visits before needing a referral from a primary care physician.
